Services and Facilities
The library collects, catalogues and provides information resources to be used by researchers, teachers and students. The library’s holdings include:
• approx. 260,000 volumes and 400 print periodicals
• access to approx. 180 databases and about 24,000 full-text electronic periodicals as well as 20,000 e-books
• a digital DIN information centre containing all DIN norms as well as all VDE directives and VDI guidelines
University Language Centre
The Language Centre is responsible for providing academic and career-oriented foreign language courses in English, French, Russian, Spanish and German as a Foreign Language, which are part of the curriculum at HTWK Leipzig. A multimedia language learning lab featuring state-of-the-art media is available for self-directed study. Moreover, HTWK Leipzig offers courses in many languages that prepare students for earning international certificates such as
• English: Cambridge English, IELTS
• Business English: London Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• German: TestDaF
University Sports Centre
The University Sports Centre offers programmes in more than 50 sports. Students may choose between courses taught by trained instructors and informal meetings. The many Wednesday tournaments are very popular. Thanks to a fully equipped gymnasium with its own weight and exercise rooms, there is a wide range of opportunities to match anybody’s interest. University Centre for Interdisciplinary Education
The University Centre for Interdisciplinary Education runs and coordinates students programmes designed to provide qualifications that go beyond what students learn in their chosen field of study. With its individualized counselling sessions, excursions, workshops and lecture series, the University Centre for Interdisciplinary Education seeks to provide the social and decision-making competencies that are increasingly expected by employers, thus giving students a head start in their careers.
IT Service Centre
The IT Service Centre is responsible for the IT infrastructure at HTWK Leipzig. They support all members of HTWK Leipzig in matters of IT problems and questions.
HTWK Leipzig has numerous computers for the use of students, variously located in libraries, faculty buildings and a computer lab featuring open-access university PCs and workstations that are also available at night and on weekends.
With so many students bringing their own devices like notebooks, tablets and smartphones, we also provide a widely deployed wifi installation on campus so students can use their own mobile devices via wireless connection. This service is available in many campus locations, let you access the university's IT infrastructuce and offers free and fast access to the internet.
